FAQ's

Do you take insurance?

If you have insurance, I am an in-network provider for TRICARE (Humana Military), Blue Cross Blue Shield, Humana, United Health Care, Cigna, Aetna and am out-of-network with other insurance carriers and will provide you with a super bill so you can send it to your insurance company for direct reimbursement. If you have insurance, you will want to find out the amount of your copay, deductible, if and how much of your deductible has been met, services covered, if prior authorization is needed, and what percentage of the fee your insurer is stating they plan to pay before your first session.

How long can I expect to be in therapy?

While I believe in therapy no longer than necessary, the length of therapy is unique to each individual and depends on the personality, life experiences, and goals for each. I work with my clients to define their goals and then check in on a regular basis to assess and re-evaluate these goals. The treatment of trauma, attachment wounds, mood issues, and couples/family conflict take time, patience, dedication and practice.

Who goes to counseling?

All kinds of people seek therapy, although years ago, therapy had a stigma attached to it; it was believed you had to be either very disturbed or “weak” to seek it out.  Fortunately, times have changed and now people from all different backgrounds go to counseling and it’s considered a normal and healthy resource.  People seek counseling for a variety of reasons; the desire for personal growth and change, navigating temporary or long periods of depression or anxiety more effectively, managing stress, improving emotional regulation, substance abuse issues, improving relationships and communication skills, and gaining a better understanding of one’s past and how it is presently impacting life and relationships.

How frequent are sessions?

Most clients schedule weekly sessions, although some prefer to meet more or less frequently depending on their recovery and support needs. We will discuss recommended frequency at your first session.

What is the fee and the length of therapy?

The standard session is usually 50-60 minutes; extended sessions for couples work, EMDR, IFS, CPT, or other needs are also an option. My rates range from $100+, dependent on the type of service provided, I will let you know what the fee will be and any other options that may be available to you when you are scheduling your first session
